We Irish have always loved the stories of Tír na nÓg (“Land of the Young”) or Tír na hÓige (“Land of Youth”). It is depicted as a supernatural realm of everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance and joy.
Even today many long for eternal youth! How many products are available from companies promising that you can stay young or “look younger” by using their products! A search on the internet may soon convince us that it is worth a try!!
So is there really a “Land of Youth” or a “Land of the Young”?
Should we wonder why the concept of a tree of life is widespread throughout the world cultures? Jews and Christians know that the tree of life first appeared in Genesis 2:9 and 3:22-24 (in the Bible) as the source of eternal life. “The LORD God made every tree grow………. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God provided the tree of life to be a continuous reminder that immortality was a consequence of Adam and Eve’s obedience to God ‘s command. They had access to the tree of life as long as they did not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they sinned by disobeying God, He drove them from the Garden and placed an angel with a flaming sword to guard the tree of life so they would no longer have access to it.
Eternal life was now no longer theirs. This affected all of their descendants.
By barring access to the tree of life, God prevented all people living eternally in a sinful state with its results of pain, disease, heartache, toil, and grief; meaning endless agony for all humanity, with no hope of relief.
GOD PROMISED HIS PLAN TO REDEEM PEOPLE.
“in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.”1*
HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS: God kept His promise!
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the
law. 2*
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life.”3*
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Saviour of the world.”4*
WANT TO BE IN THE LAND OF ETERNAL YOUTH?

“To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. God will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. “For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”5* WE MUST GET READY FOR THIS!
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 6*
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 7*
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You
have sent.
The only way to know God and be ready to live with Him in His eternal land is:- Right now
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”8* Be sorry, turn from your
sins, trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation, turn to God.
Enjoy life eternal with God now and forever. Jesus promised: “I give them eternal life, and they
shall never perish;”9*
