John

The remains of St. Columba’s church, Gartan, Co. Donegal

Extracts – For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me. Psalm 31:3

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8

I will meditate on the glorious splendour of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Psalm 145:5

800-1000 A.D manuscript of Psalm 83 preserved in a bog

A construction worker in Ireland came across the ancient 20-page book dated to the years 800-1000 A.D. while driving his backhoe’s shovel into the mud. Experts say it’s impossible to say how the manuscript ended up there, but speculate it may have been lost in transit or dumped after a raid some 1,000 to 1,200 years ago.
